The Self-defeating Decision Of Obi and Kwankwaso, undermining Nigeria’s rescue mission, By-ibrahim Salisu Hinnah
In a time when Nigeria desperately needs a united front to confront its many challenges, the recent decisions by Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to quit the coalition is a disheartening blow to the country’s political landscape. While their exit might seem like a political maneuver, history will not forget that it was driven by selfish ambition and an insatiable hunger for power.
Obi and Kwankwaso’s actions have not only disappointed the hopes of many Nigerians who believed in a unified opposition but have also cast a shadow on their democratic credentials. If you are afraid of party primaries, you are not a true democrat. You are not the right candidate to challenge Bola Tinubu in the polls.
The essence of democracy lies in the free and fair contest of ideas and vision, something they appear unwilling to engage in. By stepping away from the coalition, Obi and Kwankwaso are reinforcing the belief that they fear the strength of Atiku Abubakar, who represents a truly democratic and progressive path forward for Nigeria.
Their decision to quit reflects an underlying insecurity and a refusal to confront their own weaknesses within a competitive democratic process. If they were truly committed to Nigeria’s progress and genuinely interested in serving the people, they would have embraced the party primaries as a healthy and necessary part of the democratic process. Instead, their actions show that they prioritize personal gain over the collective good of the country.
But let it be clear: you met us in the ADC, and we will remain here, focused, determined, and ready to win, with or without you. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) remains resolute in its commitment to lead Nigeria into a brighter future. We are driven by a singular mission, to provide the Nigerian people with a leadership that prioritizes their welfare, development, and progress over the self-serving ambitions of a few individuals.
As Obi and Kwankwaso exit the coalition, it is crucial for Nigerians to realize that their departure is a reflection of their inability to rise above personal interests. While they may choose to walk away, the ADC will stay strong, united, and unwavering in its quest to rescue Nigeria from years of mismanagement and stagnation.
The party’s resolve to challenge the status quo remains stronger than ever, and the 2027 general elections will serve as the ultimate test of which path Nigeria chooses one defined by selfish ambition or one that puts the people’s welfare first. In the face of these challenges, the ADC stands firm, and we will continue our fight for a better Nigeria.
