Motorists Risk Arrest As Gombe Police Begin Enforcement
By Muhammad Faruk Bayu, Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has commenced enforcement operations against motorists driving vehicles without registration number plates and those using concealed registration numbers across the state.
The command said the exercise is aimed at improving public safety, strengthening security and preventing criminal activities carried out with unregistered vehicles.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, operating a vehicle without a valid registration number plate or using a concealed plate is against the law and poses a threat to public safety and national security.
According to the command, vehicle registration remains an important tool for crime prevention, intelligence gathering and effective law enforcement.
The police noted that criminals often use vehicles without proper registration or with hidden number plates to commit offences and avoid identification by security agencies.
As part of the ongoing operation, police officers have been deployed to different parts of the state to identify and apprehend motorists violating the regulations.
The command warned that anyone found driving an unregistered vehicle or using concealed registration details would face legal action.
It advised all vehicle owners and motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and display valid number plates at all times.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, urged road users to comply with the law and support efforts aimed at enhancing public safety and national security.
He said compliance with vehicle registration regulations would help security agencies in crime detection, investigation and enforcement activities.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and implementing measures designed to strengthen security across Gombe State.
