The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Jigawa State chapter has commenced a tour of local government councils in Hadejia Emirate.
The State Chairman of JONAPWD Honourable Adamu Shu’aibu urged the council chairmen of Kaugama, Malam Madori, Kafin Hausa, and Auyo to consider and include persons with disabilities (PWDs) in their appointments and other activities.
He noted that the inclusion of PWDs in various activities would eliminate all forms of marginalisation and negative labelling.
Honourable Zubairu Musa, Special Assistant II on Disability to the governor and the JONAPWD Financial Secretary, commended the administration of Governor Umar Namadi for including people with disabilities in many appointments, thereby enabling them to contribute to the development of the state.
In his response, the secretary general, Abubakar Umar, urged the younger generation of PWDs to enroll in schools to acquire both Western and Islamic education, which will help bridge the gap and eliminate marginalisation.
While addressing the persons with disabilities, the Chairman of Kaugama Local Government Area, Honourable Usman Masaki Dansule, pledged to give them maximum support in all matters concerning them.
